The All Sufficient One

I sit, staring at the blank screen.

I type, then quickly press ‘delete’ – the words disappear.

I try again.

Nothing.

“Lord, what would you have me type, here on this empty space?”

I wait.

I think of how God fills emptiness:

‘In the beginning, the earth was formless and empty, and the Spirit of God was hovering.”

Spirit of God, will You hover over my emptiness?

Will you bring Your Light

Your expansive horizon

Your fullness and fruitfulness

Your order and gentle rhythm,

Not only onto this blank page

But into the empty corners of my life?

His voice, clear, gentle, strong:

“Drink from Me; let my Life bubble up in you;

Eat of Me, and be filled, you need never be empty again;

I am here to give you a rich and satisfying life.

Receive this gift from Me.

I am your all sufficient One.”
