What we do

OPEN EARS  provides fellowship for those isolated by hearing loss, encouraging all to reach their potential and grow in their Christian lives. There are no denominational barriers, and all are welcome.

On request, Open Ears also offers confidential pastoral care, and we would love to hear from you, especially if you are feeling isolated or lonely at this time.  Just click on this link to email Marylin pastoral@openears.org.uk who will then contact you.  Marylin is happy to arrange a Zoom call with you or to correspond by email or letter.

Although we are unable to visit you in person, do remember – there is a network of prayer support available.  Please contact us if you would like us to pray for you prayer@openears.org.uk

We keep up to date with our friends and members through social media and a weekly e-send, ‘Open Ears Together’; subscribe here together@openears.org.uk

There is an Open Ears Fellowship Group on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/314897178647037 which you are invited to join.  The Facebook Fellowship Group is a closed group, i.e. not open to the public. All enquirers will need to submit a request in order to join the group.

We also have a public Open Ears Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/openearscharity as well as an Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/openearscharity/ and Twitter account so do take a look.

As a Christian charity, we organise various events each year, most have a Biblical theme with Scripture teaching or reflections and some are primarily for fun and fellowship.

Since 2020 our events take place online, via Zoom.  We hold mini conferences; quizzes, and prayer times. All our fellowship events are fully accessible to people with hearing loss as we provide a speech-to-text service.

In the past we have run in person events, varying between Monday to Friday holidays, weekend conferences or one day events.  These included times for relaxation and fellowship as well as Bible teaching.  We tried to hold these events in different parts of the country so that as many people as possible could benefit from the time together.  It is our hope that we will be able to hold more in person events in future, to run alongside our online programme.  We can arrange British Sign Language interpretation for our in person events, and an induction loop will also be available.
