Sophie Herd

Sophie became personally aware of hearing loss in her teens when her sister was diagnosed with a neurological illness which would leave her profoundly deaf and the whole family took sign language classes for a time. Now, over 25 years later, Sophie's sign language is very rusty but her desire to include people with hearing loss in Christian service, worship and belonging is strong. She became the Administrator for Open Ears in December 2022 and is daily encouraged by the resilience, enthusiasm, humour and faith of the members of Open Ears.
